FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT AUDITIONS

Do I need experience to audition? ​

• Nope!! Dancers do not require experience in styles they want to audition in/are required to audition in. We understand many dancers have not taken classes in certain styles previously, or perhaps any styles and that is OK!

​I want to audition but I am unavailable these dates. Is there another option?​

• absolutely! please email alexandra@thedanceconnection.co to arrange a different audition time

 Why do I need to audition?​

• The auditions are to help the committee determine numerous components to formulate our competitive team! 

• The audition scores are used to determine numerous factors :
  -If a dancer is ready for competitive
  -What level of competitive is best suited for a dancer 
  -What dancers match well together 
  -What additional styles are able to offered to dancers
  -If dancers are awarded a solo, duo, or trio

Can I do other styles not offered in my audition?​

• Yes! 

• Dancers who are 9 and under will still have the opportunity to indicate interest in other styles that there is not a scheduled audition for

• Styles for the 9 and under age groups will be determined based on interest expressed on the pre-audition forms you will receive in your registration email.

• For example, although there is not an audition for hip hop, dancers can still express interest in a hip-hop routine, and a routine will be offered to the group if enough interest

• All dancers will have the ability to indicate interest in the styles offered that there is not an audition for (Musical Theatre, Open & Ballet) and groups will be formed based on interest and scores. 

• Dancers 10+ are required to audition in Acro, Contemporary, Hip Hop & Tap to help formulate groups. As these are not mandatory styles, it is a way for the audition committee to blend different dancers into their add-on routines that they may not be training together in technique. For example, an add on routine could have a blend of dancers from multiple different teams.
